POSITION: ULTRASONOGRAPHER -- Permanent Part Time

DEPARTMENT: DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

·        Graduate of an approved school of Medical Imaging – Ultrasonography.

·        Current registration with ARDMS and or CSDMS are essential.

·        Excellent organizational skills and decision-making abilities are essential.

·        Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.

·        Demonstrated initiative and team playing skills are essential.

·        Must be available to work all shifts including weekends, stat holidays and on call.

·        Must have satisfactory work performance in present position.

·        Must have proven good attendance record.

DESIRABLE:

·        Doppler and peripheral vascular imaging experience

·        MSK imaging experience.

DUTIES:

• Performs all general ultrasound (abdomen, small parts) and special procedures such as MSK and vascular imaging.
• Assists radiologist/clinician with specialized procedures.
• Reports to the radiologist, any unusual or inconsistent findings arising during scanning procedures.
• Responsible for the daily upkeep of equipment.
• Reports equipment deficiencies to the charge technologist/manager.
• Takes on-call rotation with other ultrasonographers.
• Instructs students during clinical rotation when required and participates in evaluating student’s progress.
• Maintains a general working knowledge of, not only the provision of ultrasound services but of the Diagnostic Imaging Department, policies and procedures.
• Assists clerical staff with booking urgent ultrasound examinations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
